A U.S. district judge has granted a preliminary injunction against streaming service VidAngel on behalf of Walt Disney Co., Lucasfilm, 20th Century Fox Film and Warner Bros. Entertainment, who filed a lawsuit in June accusing the company for illegally ripping DVDs and streaming without a license. The Provo, Utah-based start-up allows people to stream cleaned-up versions of movies including “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Deadpool” for $1 each by filtering out unwanted language, sex and nudity from movies. In the complaint, the studios asked the court to block VidAngel from violating their copyrights, the L.A. Times reported. Also Read: 'American Idol' Alum Sues, Says His Eardrum Was Partially Removed…

You granted my petition for clemency and reduced my sentence of life without parole for a nonviolent drug charge to 20 years. And although words can’t illustrate what I felt the moment I was told I was not going to die in prison as I had been sentenced to in 1998, my feelings of joy quickly transformed into sorrow and guilt when I returned to my prison cell and faced my friends…

In the wake of Donald Trump being named the 2016 Person of the Year by Time Magazine, “SNL” brought on Kate McKinnon to play the woman who received that honor last year: German Chancellor Angela Merkel. As it turns out, Merkel isn’t very happy about Time’s decision. “It kind of undermines the honor for me,” she said. “It’s like winning the Nobel Prize for Physics and the next year they give it to Hoobastank.” Watch the full bit above. Merkel said that 2016 has been “a real Volkswagen” for her, but she’s coping with the help of David Cameron, who…

ESPN’s saga about race, murder and celebrity, “O.J.: Made in America,” has been named the best nonfiction feature film of 2016 by the International Documentary Association, which presented its IDA Documentary Awards on Friday evening in Los Angeles. The film, which had a qualifying run as a seven-and-a-half-hour film before airing in five parts on ESPN’s “30 for 30” series, won in a category that also included “Cameraperson,” “Fire at Sea,” “I Am Not Your Negro, “13th” and “Weiner.” While “O.J.” has stirred up occasional arguments over whether it should be considered a feature film or a made-for-television miniseries, it…

Transparency activist Chelsea Manning has already spent more time behind bars than any other whistleblower in U.S. history. She’s been systematically mistreated, subjected to torture, and denied access to desperately needed health care while serving a 35 year sentence in an all-male military prison. And if we don’t act right now to support her, Chelsea’s situation is about to go from bad to worse. Last month, Chelsea and her legal team formally petitioned President Obama to commute her sentence to “time served.” Supporters have echoed that request, launching an official Whitehouse.gov petition, which has garnered more than 68,000 signatures at…
