Vertical Entertainment Acquires Demi Moore, Alec Baldwin Romantic Drama ‘Blind’

Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to “Blind,” a romantic drama starring Demi Moore, Alec Baldwin and Dylan McDermott, TheWrap has learned. “Blind” reunites Moore and Baldwin after they appeared opposite each other in the 1996 thriller “The Juror.” Foresight Unlimited will be selling the international rights to the film directed by Michael Mailer at the Berlin market, it was announced Wednesday night, and Vertical is targeting a late summer/early fall 2017 theatrical release. ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ Win Big at Visual Effects Society Awards

Detainees Can Sue Over Jail's Laundry Policy

A federal appeals court has overruled a lower court decision that rejected a lawsuit filed by detainees in a Missouri county jail attacking a policy as unconstitutional. The policy forced them to remain naked for about seven hours at least one or two times a week while their only clothing was being laundered. In July 2015, groups of current and former prisoners held at the Cole County jail in Jefferson City sued the county and the jail warden and deputy, claiming the jail’s laundry and related policies combined to deprive them of constitutional rights. Russell Hollander to Succeed Jay Roth as DGA’s National Executive Director

Russell Hollander has been named to the post of National Executive Director of the Directors Guild of America, the DGA announced on Sunday. He will replace Jay D. Roth, who will retire in May after 22 years with the DGA. Hollander has worked at the DGA for 16 years, for the last six years as the Associate National Executive Director. He was selected unanimously at a meeting on Sunday, the day after the DGA Awards, at which Roth became only the fourth person to receive the guild’s Presidents Award.
