Milo Yiannopoulos Denies Defending Pedophilia After Shocking Comments Emerge (Video)

Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos denied defending pedophilia after CNN’s Jake Tapper and others called him out Sunday for recorded remarks in which he said some relationships between adults and 13-year-olds are consensual. He also joked that being molested had made him good at oral sex. Yiannopoulos, a conservative, self-professed troll, said he was taken out of context and did not support pedophilia — but he quickly found that internet attacks aren’t as fun when you’re the one being attacked. Yiannopoulos’ comments emerged two days after he accused transgender women of wanting to molest children during a “Real Time With Bill Maher” appearance. The remarks drew added…

Trump And The 75th Anniversary Of The Japanese Internment

Today marks the 75th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signing of the executive order that authorized the internment of 120,000 men, women, and children of Japanese descent during World War II. As we contemplate the actions of the Trump administration in matters pertaining to national security, it is imperative that we remember and reflect upon this lesson from the past. In the immediate aftermath of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, there was no clamor for the mass internment of persons of Japanese descent. To the contrary, shortly after Pearl Harbor, Attorney General Francis Biddle…

We Can Stop Gun Violence Without Blaming People Living With Mental Illness

A lot can change in five years. If you had asked me five years ago how we should approach the intersection of guns and mental illness, I would have said the two should never mix. I would have said all people with mental illness should be prohibited from possessing firearms. I would have used the term “dangerously mentally ill” without thinking twice. Then, in 2013 – more than 20 years into my career – my perspective changed. In the wake of the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, I convened a meeting to tackle a complicated question: What does…

Donald Trump’s Presser for the Ages – 77 Minutes of Unvarnished Nutty

Remember the date — February 16, 2017. It’s one for the history books, the day that an American president gave a public performance so nutty, so bizarre, so full of malignant narcissism and wild invention that it boggles the mind and rattles the teeth. In a 77-minute rant, Donald Trump defended his madcap administration as entirely sane, as if the firing of Mike Flynn, the collapse of Andrew Puzder’s cabinet candidacy, the ethics violation of Kellyanne Conway, the sinister stylings of Steve Bannon’s executive orders, the fight with the intelligence community, the battle with the judiciary, the posturing againt the…

4 Things Reporters Get Terribly Wrong About 'New' Drugs

In recent years, there has been increasing media attention on drugs known as “K2”, “bath salts”, fentanyl, “molly”, and others. Unfortunately, much of the coverage – even by some of the most well-meaning journalists – contains misinformation and inaccurate or misleading terminology. This all serves to perpetuate unfounded myths and unhelpful hysteria about these substances. The Drug Policy Alliance has created media tip sheets on synthetic cannabinoids, synthetic opioids, synthetic cathinones, and MDMA to help journalists accurately and constructively cover these frequently misrepresented substances. These tip sheets address some of the biggest mistakes made when reporting on these drugs, including: Casual…
