The Netflix logo still drew scattered boos when it appeared at the beginning of the Cannes Film Festival screening of Noah Baumbach’s “The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” on Sunday morning at the Grand Theatre Lumiere, but this time there were no technical snafus, no rhythmic clapping, no halted screening so that the aspect ratio could be fixed. Unlike the chaos that accompanied the first Netflix movie to screen at Cannes, “Okja” on Thursday, the first press screening of “The Meyerowitz Stories” on Sunday was uneventful — that is, unless you could the Cannes debut of Baumbach after 10 films…

The early morning press screening of the Netflix film “Okja” was interrupted by boos and angry applause in the Palais des Festivals on Friday at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The streaming service has divided film professionals at the festival, though some of the boos were also aimed at problems with the sound and framing at the Grand Theatre Lumiere, where the film was shown. Grammy award-winning rock star Chris Cornell — frontman for rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave — has died at 52, according to the Associated Press. Cornell died in Detroit while on tour, according to representative Brian Bumbery. In a statement to the AP, Bumbery said his death was “sudden and unexpected.” No cause of death was given. Sony Picture Classics has acquired the North American rights to Stanley Tucci’s “Final Portrait,” the studio announced Tuesday. Written and directed by Tucci, the period drama set in 1964 stars Geoffrey Rush, Armie Hammer, Clémence Poésy, Tony Shalhoub and Sylvie Testud. The Riverstone Pictures film had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival out of competition in a gala screening.
