Right after the Twin Towers came down, Jerry Falwell went on Pat Robertson’s 700 Club television program and explained that Osama Bin Laden’s attack was a ‘sign from God’ because America had strayed from a righteous path. Falwell then said, “The pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ― you helped this happen.” Falwell quickly withdrew his remarks…

Kathy Griffin’s photos depicting Donald Trump’s decapitated head has already cost her a spokesperson deal. Squatty Potty, the designers and creators of Squatty Potty toilet stools and Unicorn Gold bathroom products, cut ties with the comedian on Tuesday in the wake of backlash from the bloody images. “We were shocked and disappointed to learn about the image Ms. Griffin shared today, it was deeply inappropriate and runs contrary to the core values our company stands for,” the Utah-based company’s CEO Bobby Edwards said in a statement to TheWrap. The autopsy declared his death an accidental drowning, suggesting he fell into the water on his own. His family rejects that finding and insists that there must be more of an explanation. You can read my entire coverage of the story here. Dakota’s death is tragic, a loss to his family that most of us cannot understand or empathize with because we…

In the recent flood of superhero movies, several have managed to be quite good — but “Wonder Woman” ranks as one of the few great ones. Gal Gadot’s turn as Princess Diana of Themyscira was a refreshing standout amidst the sludge of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and she’s as good if not better headlining her own solo adventure. It’s a film that not only improves upon many of the seemingly built-in shortcomings of superhero movies, but also mixes smarts, sentiment and adrenaline in the best Hollywood style. This is a superior popcorn movie, no matter what the genre….

“The Leftovers” has never been a show to offer its characters beginnings. Those are hopeful little things, free from the past and typically sparked by closure. The idea itself is laughable for Damon Lindelof and Tom Perotta’s show about the probable end of the world and the 98 percent of the population that did not make it to a better place. But the penultimate episode of the series just aired — “The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)” — and a returning character told TheWrap that it’s more a pure beginning than we would suspect.
