Like a lot of people this week, Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday spent time in his monologue mocking the conservative movement’s obsession with Taylor Swift, particularly reports of Donald Trump’s insecurity about her popularity. Reacting to the reports that Trump believes Trumpers are “more committed” than Swifties, Kimmel joked that the primary difference is the Swifties would have actually pulled off the Jan. 6 coup attempt. Kimmel got there by discussing the Super Bowl-Taylor Swift thing, noting to his audience that “Trump’s taking this personally. Don-ye West has been telling people he’s more, he’s saying, ‘I’m more popular than Taylor Swift…

The Hollywood Creative Alliance has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Critics Choice Association stemming from CCA’s new ban on its members belonging to both organizations. In court documents filed Tuesday in Los Angeles, the HCA claimed the CCA made an “attempt to boycott and steal members of the HCA.” Trouble between the organizations began the week after the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, when CCA accused HCA of influence peddling — specifically, of telling studios and the representatives of certain nominees that it had several members who were also members of the Critics Choice Association. CCA at that time informed…

Stephen Colbert was suitably freaked out during his monologue on Monday’s “The Late Show” after explaining to his audience what how Taylor Swift’s most dedicated fans have uncovered a lot of astonishing numerical coincidences about the upcoming NFL Super Bowl that related directly to the singer herself. So much so that once he finished, he declared their findings mean “whatever the Swifties think it means.” Because he doesn’t want to make them angry. During his monologue, the CBS host got there by first talking about the Super Bowl itself, which as Colbert noted has made right wing pundits lose their…

Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake spoke with Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” about Donald Trump — and her own political future. Lake told host Maria Bartiromo that the prior head of the Arizona Republican party attempted to bribe her to stay out of politics, but her answer was clear: “I told him to go back to the people back east who were putting him up to this and tell them they’d have to kill me before I would stop, because we don’t have time to sit around and wait.” Lake explained to Bartiromo that the attempted bribe happened nearly a…

Justin Timberlake is the musical guest on the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live,” and since he’s known for showing up in a ton of sketches, he also showed up during host Dakota Johnson’s monologue. But then “SNL” vet and current host of “The Tonight Show” Jimmy Fallon also showed up too — dressed in costume as Barry Gibbs from the Bee Gees. You know, because Fallon and Timberlake have a longstanding “SNL” impression of The Bee Gees. But before you ask, they didn’t actually do the Bee Gees impression. Instead it was part of a gag about how Timberlake…

Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong interfered in reporting at the newspaper about a billionaire doctor friend who was involved in a lawsuit over his dog biting a woman in a local park, TheWrap has learned. The meddling in an unpublished story was a last straw in the deteriorating relationship between Soon-Shiong and his executive editor Kevin Merida, who resigned on Jan. 9. TheWrap reported on this incident in an investigative piece last week, but the details of the interference only emerged on Friday in The New York Times. Gary Michelson, a billionaire surgeon who has invented multiple patented treatments…
