Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church Says: ‘We Have Never Closed Our Doors’
Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church responded to heavy criticism on Monday for not immediately opening its doors to the victims of Hurricane Harvey, which has devastated Houston and surrounding areas in Texas. “We have never closed our doors. We will continue to be a distribution center for those in need,” the church said in a statement to Mediaite. “We are prepared to house people once shelters reach capacity. Lakewood will be a value to the community in the aftermath of this storm in helping our fellow citizens rebuild their lives.” Lakewood Church did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment….
