Scott D. Pierce, a respected longtime television critic based in Salt Lake City who also served as President of the Television Critics Association in 2014, died Friday of undisclosed causes. He was 64. The news was made public by his partner, Rob Sonoda. Pierce wrote television criticism for more than 30 years, beginning in 1990 at the Deseret News. He remained at that paper through 2010, when he was among employees affected by massive layoffs at the Mormon Church-owned paper. He was offered a job the next day at The Salt Lake Tribune; he remained at the Tribune until his…

Legendary classic rock guitarist and frequent Martin Scorsese soundtrack collaborator Robbie Robertson’s children have filed a lawsuit against his widow, Janet Zuccarini, in a dispute over their father’s estate. The sides are fighting over who has to pay for the $6 million mansion that Robertson, founder of The Band, and Zuccarini purchased and that she continues to live in. They allege in the suit, filed Wednesday and obtained by TheWrap, that Zuccarini committed financial elder abuse against their father. Zuccarini’s lawyer Gabrielle A. Vidal called the suit “meritless fiction” in a statement to the Los Angeles Times. “This is a…

The Bear star Ayo Edebiri confirmed that there was never any real beef between her and superstar J.Lo in a new Vanity Fair interview, calling the media’s speculation of a feud “absurd.” Like a lot of people, Edebiri was not not always the most careful with what she put and said online in the past, some of which resurfaced as she gained more popularity. A week before the two took on the SNL stage together back in February, an audio clip of her calling Lopez’s career “a scam” went viral. The viral clip came from an episode of the “Scam…

In the Season 5 finale of “FBI: Most Wanted,” agent Ray Cannon (Edwin Hodge) marries girlfriend Cora (Caroline Harris) in the first wedding for the series’ history. After mad bombers, a cannibalistic serial killer and Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) getting shot in the line of duty, the season ended on a high — and very jubilant — note. Hodge spoke with TheWrap about why he loves the Ray and Cora relationship, how it changes his dynamic as a character and his own upcoming wedding. TheWrap: It’s the first wedding in “FBI: Most Wanted” history. Edwin Hodge: No pressure. Yeah, no pressure…

Jimmy Kimmel, back from a week off, was very amused on Monday night’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” by the news that Rudy Giuliani was served with Arizona indictment papers during his birthday party in Florida over the weekend. But even though it happened after he had mocked Arizona authorities, it was still only “the second most embarrassing thing that ever happened to Rudy Giuliani.” Read on to find out what the first thing was, or watch Kimmel’s monologue above. And for those who need a quick catch-up, Giuliani was indicted in April over his efforts to fraudulently overturn the 2020 presidential…

Note: The following story contains spoilers from the “Tracker” Season 1 finale. In Sunday night’s Season 1 finale of “Tracker,” Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) learned there are even more mysteries surrounding his late father than he realized — and that everyone else in his family seems to know more about it than he does. TheWrap spoke with Hartley before the episode premiered about what we can expect in Season 2, plus some of the unusual stats that his character racked up in Season 1. Hartley also told us how much we can expect to see Colter’s siblings Russell (Jensen Ackles)…

As is tradition on the season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” Colin Jost and Michael Che wrapped up the show’s Weekend Update segment for Season 49 by doing a joke swap. And for Jost, that meant objectifying his wife and rooting for Harvey Weinstein. To kick off the segment, Che apologized for hiring a fake civil rights activist for the bit last year. To make up for it, he brought in a real rabbi to sit next to Jost throughout the bit. And first up was a punchline about the pro-Palestinian protests around the country. “The only chant you’ll hear…

“The Shameless,” playing in the Cannes Film Festival’s A Certain Regard section, brings into sharp relief the reality for women in India, told through the story of a woman who has been done no favors and does what she must to survive. It’s no secret to those who watch the news that women in India have struggled against cultural forces that leaves women of lower economic means little recourse. “The Shameless” puts a face and a soul on that broad canvas of inequality. But the protagonist Rena, played with devastating force by Anasya Sengupta, is no victim. From the opening…

Stephen Colbert had a lot of fun channeling “The Wizard of Oz” on Thursday night — with the help of some helium. Colbert sang “the Lollipop Guild” in order to make fun of one of the ways Donald Trump’s Lawyers attempted to discredit Michael Cohen during cross-examination Thursday in Trump’s New York Criminal trial. But before that — still on helium — Colbert expressed some adorable-sounding, but actually terrifying observations about American democracy. But don’t get stressed out, just focus on the adorable voice by watching the clip from Colbert’s monologue below: Post by @colbertlateshow View on Threads Colbert got…

“Bridgerton” might have finally hit its stride in Season 3. It’s not as if the Netflix juggernaut didn’t thrill and titillate in its first two seasons, which mostly faithfully adapted the first two books in Julia Quinn’s series of historical romance novels, but now it’s clear there was a sort of shimmer that hadn’t been found yet. Season 3 has that shimmer in spades, even in just its first four episodes. The series follows the love lives of each of the eight Bridgerton siblings, each of whom has grown up in a loving, happy family tainted a bit by the…
