“SNL” delivered the finale for its 45th season on Saturday night, and with it came a pretty solid political portion of Weekend Update. Hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost delivered some commentary about the week’s biggest topics, from how people in Donald Trump’s circle keep catching coronavirus, to the Ahmaud Arbery shooting, to the sexual misconduct allegations against Joe Biden. “A personal valet who handles President Trump’s meals has tested positive for the coronavirus. The news was first reported on CNN while the anchors tried not to smile,” Jost said to kick off the segment. “Trump also traveled to Arizona…

Over the last three years people have frequently compared Donald Trump unfavorably to the last Republican president to preside over a series of wholly preventable disasters — George Bush. Specifically, it’s common for people to say very nice things about the 43rd president and suggest he would have handled these disasters well., especially given how the response to the COVID-19 pandemic is going. But on “Real Time” Friday, Bill Maher wasn’t having it, and during the mid show bit, he made it plain when he said he thinks the 43rd president would have been almost as bad as he thinks…

The 2016 Republican presidential primary was a very strange one to look back on four years later. Several notable conservatives who either became Donald Trump’s surrogates or have effusively supported him the past few years were very, very harsh on him back then, like Ted Cruz. And Kayleigh McEnany, who was named as Trump’s new press secretary in April, is one of them. In 2015, when McEnany was Harvard Law student and CNN contributor, she had a lot to say about Trump’s infamous comments about illegal immigration — in which he said that Mexico is “sending people that have lots…

Seth Meyers was back in his attic for another episode of “Late Night” on Wednesday — and, of course, another edition of “A Closer Look.” Donald Trump continues to be the focus of most of the late night hosts, what with the bounty of television appearances he continues to make as we near the end of our second month in lockdown. And in a new edition of “A Closer Look,” Meyers took aim at Trump’s decision “to give up in the fight against coronavirus in order to reopen the economy.” “You would think that, putting aside his banality, his narcissism…

Donald Trump might think Stephen Colbert has “no talent,” but amusingly, Colbert said on Tuesday’s “The Late Show” that he agrees with that assessment. In fact, Colbert joked, he only got where he his through the same means employed by Trump’s son in law, Jared Jushner. Earlier in the day, in an interview published by the New York Post, Trump got distracted from managing one of the worst health crises in American history in order to say he might once again skip the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, and then complain about the way late night TV hosts talk about him….
