David Lynch released a short film on his 74th birthday titled “What Did Jack Do?” In the Netflix short, the master of the surreal interrogates a talking monkey that may have committed murder. Japanese art house Studio Ghibli has found a home on Netflix. Starting Feb. 1, 21 films from the Academy Award-winning Studio Ghibli will be available on Netflix through distribution partner Wild Bunch International, the streaming platform announced Sunday. The deal excludes the U.S., Canada and Japan. HBO Max acquired the U.S. rights to the animated library last year, with the films debuting on the platform in the spring of this year. Talent Agency CAA has raised pay rates for assistants and other hourly employees, an individual with knowledge of the matter told TheWrap on Wednesday. Assistants — a specific job title at CAA — will now make $18 an hour, up from $15, the individual said. New hourly rates for other employees were not disclosed.
