Plenty of people are freaked out about the fact that anti-vaccines activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is Trump’s pick to be the Secretary of Health and Human Services. And for good reason — as CNN’s Jake Tapper put it on Thursday, “I hope you like measles, America.” But on “The Late Show,” Stephen Colbert was a picture of fake-philosophical calm as he urged people to to “Keep an open mind” about it. “Because that’s how the worm gets in.” “There’s no denying it is a weird time. But today is not the worst day since Trump was elected,” Colbert said…

Stephen Colbert told Wednesday’s “The Late Show” audience that he recently tried to give his staff some hope about the coming second Trump administration. “maybe,” he said, “it’ll be different this time.” Then he confirmed this is correct. “It’s already way worse,” Colbert joked. The bleak assessment of things to come was inspired by the news Wednesday of the many, many startling choices the former president — who despite attempting to overthrow the government in 2021, was never held accountable for his crimes by the Biden administration, apparently on purpose — is making for his next administration. Most notably, Trump…

Pundits and political scientists have written a lot about what mistakes by the Democratic Party may have led to Donald Trump’s shock 2024 victory. But a dejected Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday said he would rather they figure this out in advance for the next election. “The GOP is expected to win the House now – they already won the Senate – of course, they won the White House too,” Kimmel said during his “Jimmy Kimmel Live” monologue. “I don’t know. Maybe next time all these political experts can publish their articles on “where the Democrats went wrong” before the election?…

The historic Jim Henson Company lot, which started life as Charlie Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles, has found a new buyer: John Mayer. Yes, the singer-songwriter behind “Daughters” and “Waiting on the World to Change” has partnered with filmmaker McG to purchase the sprawling lot, located in the heart of Hollywood at 1416 N. La Brea Ave. The contract is in final negotiations as of Monday night, TheWrap has learned. Mayer recorded his excellent 2021 album “Sob Rock” at Henson Recording Studios, part of the same lot, and filmed a performance video for “Last Train Home” (from the “Sob Rock”)…

The first “Saturday Night Live” after the election opened on a somber note, with Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Heidi Gardner standing on the “SNL” stage in regular clothes addressing the election of Donald Trump for a second term as president. The group took turns speaking about how Trump tried to forcibly overturn the results of the last election and how he called for vengeance against his enemies. “To many people, including many people watching this show right now, the results were shocking and even horrifying,” Nwodim said, later noting that now “thanks to the Supreme Court, there…

At the end of Peter Godfrey’s “Christmas in Connecticut” — the greatest Christmas movie of all time (don’t fight me on this) — beloved character actor Sydney Greenstreet, having just emerged from a comedy kerfuffle of epic proportions, can think of nothing more to do than throw his mighty head in the air and declare “What a Christmas! Ho ho, what a Christmas!” I could also think of little else to say, at first, about Tyler Taormina’s peculiar and lovely “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point.” What a Christmas indeed. The film is an eclectic hodgepodge of realism and dreamlike, dare…

Though there are some voters who are “enjoying liberal tears” since Donald Trump was named President-elect in this week’s election, the “joke’s on you,” Seth Meyers said Thursday on “Late Night.” “I’ve lost the ability to cry,” he shared in his “Closer Look” segment. “It’s a condition called the medical inability to lacrimate. And if you don’t know what lacrimation is, I guess you haven’t recently asked WebMD, why can’t I cry? That’s right, my doctors say my tear ducts are drier than a Joe Biden story about growing up in Scranton.” “Is crying bad now?” Meyers asked. “Because based…

“Well, Donald Trump has won the 2024 election and he’ll be president again for four more years, or eight, or 12, or whatever,” a dejected Seth Meyers said Wednesday during his latest “A Closer Look.” “We live in an infinite time warp where Donald Trump has always been and will always be the center of the universe. There can be no escape. All hail our powerful and benevolent supreme leader.” “Windmills do cause cancer. Hannibal Lecter was a lovely man. And if I’m lying, then Arnold Palmer doesn’t have the biggest dick in the clubhouse. F– me,” Meyers added, referencing several of the…

Cardi B posted, and quickly deleted a video on X in which the “WAP” rapper said “This is why some of y’all states be getting hurricanes.” Her video response came after races were officially called in Florida, Louisiana, Texas and North Carolina in favor of Republican candidate Donald Trump, though the video did not specifically call out Trump voters. The video was deleted within minutes of her posting it at 8:42 p.m. PT. The “I Like It” singer endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris Friday night at her rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Cardi B admitted she was not going to vote…

Vice President Kamala Harris closed out the literal last minutes before election day 2024 with a star-studded rally at the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum — you know, the ones made famous in “Rocky” (1976) — that included appearances by Ricky Martin, Oprah Winfrey, local hero (and hip hop legend) Jazzy Jeff and many more. Lady Gaga was also among the celebs on hand. Earlier in the event she performed “God Bless America,” and after Harris delivered her rousing get-out-the-vote pitch, she returned to the stage for a surprise performance of her classic, “The Edge of Glory. The track,…
