(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Part 1 finale of the first season of HBO’s “The Nevers.”) The first half of the debut season of the Joss Whedon-created HBO series “The Nevers” came to a close Sunday with an episode that gave viewers answers to some of the biggest questions they’ve been asking about Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), Penance Adair (Ann Skelly) and their “mission” for the Touched society in Victorian London. But with so much information given in just an hour of television, TheWrap needed Donnelly and Skelly’s help to unpack it all. See below for our Q&A…

In the cold open of the latest “SNL,” Kate McKinnon appeared as Fauci to explain the confusing (sorry but they are) new CDC mask guidelines. Unfortunately, McKinnon’s Fauci decided that “to clear things up, I found a few doctors at the CDC who minored in theater.” The result was a series of bad sketches in which CDC personnel attempted to explain the new guidelines but instead conveyed the exact wrong messaging. Jimmy Kimmel had some fun at the expense of people who spread conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 vaccine or outright deny that COVID-19 is even a problem, when he spoke to someone dressed as the COVID-19 vaccine who turned out to be exactly like those other lunatics. The bit came near the end of Kimmel’s Thursday night monologue, when he brought up the great news that 12 to 15-year-olds are now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines. Kimmel noted that this might cause anxiety since “a lot of kids are scared to get shots,” and he said that his show had…

Jimmy Kimmel was pretty amazed that he found himself supporting a Cheney on Wednesday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” but of course in this instance it was because they share a common enemy: Donald Trump. He was talking of course about Liz Cheney, and joked that she’s used to all the grief she’s getting from Trump and other Republicans because “her dad was a Dick too.” What, that’s literally true. He’s former Vice President Dick Cheney. So of course by now you know that Liz Cheney, formally the third ranking Republican in Congress, was stripped of her position because she…

The new HBO docuseries lifts the curtain on how pharmaceutical companies profit from pain In his new documentary, filmmaker Alex Gibney (“Going Clear”) alleges that the U.S. opioid crisis is not just a crisis but a crime committed by pharmaceutical companies, distributors, pharmacists and doctors all looking for a paycheck. Now that the acclaimed two-part series has landed at HBO, let’s break down its most rewindable moments. 1. The Stats “Crime of the Century” goes to great lengths to illustrate the human cost of the opioid epidemic but that doesn’t make the data it provides any less staggering. According to…
