John Krasinski Is Colbert’s First Studio Guest Since 2020 and to Celebrate, They Arm Wrestled (Video)

Stephen Colbert celebrated a milestone on Thursday’s episode of “The Late Show,” one that probably seemed to a lot of us like it would never come: His first in-studio guest since the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down, “A Quiet Place Part 2” director John Krasinski. And to celebrate the big moment, Colbert challenged Krasinski to an arm wrestling contest and, completely not surprising, got his ass kicked. The bit began when Colbert asked Krasinski “how strong are you?” We assume the answer is “very,” since Krasinski is also the star of Amazon Prime’s “Jack Ryan” TV series, which requires him…

Zhang Yiming, Co-Founder of TikTok Parent Company ByteDance, Steps Down as CEO

Zhang Yiming, co-founder of Chinese tech giant ByteDance, parent company of TikTok, announced Wednesday that he is stepping down as the company’s CEO. In a memo to employees published online, Zhang said his decision stems in part from the fact that “I lack some of the skills that make an ideal manager. Similarly, I’m not very social, preferring solitary activities like being online, reading, listening to music, and daydreaming about what may be possible.” Zhang said that…

‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness': Yes, Zombies Are Still Very Dangerous in Gory New Trailer (Video)

Netflix has released a suitably gory new trailer for “Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness,” the upcoming anime series based on the long-running video game franchise. And if you’re into the franchise, rest assured things look appropriately “Resident Evil”-y. There’s implied political corruption and apathy, there’s plenty of action beats, lots of stressed out banter between people stuck in the middle of everything, and a mystery of some kind of unravel, presumably before it’s all too late. Also, there’s a ton of zombies rapidly overrunning the world, including a new kind of intelligent zombie. Like we say above, if you’re a fan,…

‘F9’ Film Review: Superheroes and Soap Opera Soaked in Gasoline and Testosterone, and It Still Works

Starting at about the fifth entry in the series, the “Fast and the Furious” saga zoomed past dealing with car thieves and drag races and went right into international-superspy territory. “F9” shows the strategy still succeeding, even if it makes zero sense that a gaggle of car fanatics with shady pasts is all the planet has to protect it from massive global cyberterrorism. Don’t bother asking why said car fanatics are the only people sent to investigate a plane crash in a foreign country; “F9” won’t be providing answers to that, much less to how and why some of the…
