Zhang Yiming, co-founder of Chinese tech giant ByteDance, parent company of TikTok, announced Wednesday that he is stepping down as the company’s CEO. In a memo to employees published online, Zhang said his decision stems in part from the fact that “I lack some of the skills that make an ideal manager. I’m more interested in analyzing organizational and market principles, and leveraging these theories to further reduce management work, rather than actually managing people.
