‘SNL': Texas Republican Dan Crenshaw Accepts Pete Davidson’s Apology – and Brings Some Decent Insults (Video)

A week after stoking outrage from both the left and right after he made fun of the appearance of Texas Republican Dan Crenshaw, Pete Davidson offered an apology on the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live” — and Crenshaw showed up to accept in person.

On the Nov. 3 episode of “SNL,” Davidson, during a gag when he made fun of politicians across the political spectrum, joked that Crenshaw who wears an eyepatch as a result of injuries incurred while serving three tours with the U.S. Navy in Afghanistan, looked like a spy in a porn movie.

So it is that Davidson appeared during “Weekend Update” to apologize. “In what I’m sure was a huge shock for people who know me, I made a poor choice last week,” he said, adding that Crenshaw “is a war hero and he deserves all the respect in the world.”

“If any good came of this,” Davidson continued, “maybe it was that for one day the left and the right finally came together to agree on something: that I’m a d—.”

“On that we can agree,” said Crenshaw, making a surprise appearance on the “Weekend Update” desk.

After coming out on stage, Crenshaw graciously accepted Davidson’s apology in person. Then, in a pretty good comeback, his phone started ringing, the ringtone being “Breathin,” a new song by Davidson’s ex, Ariana Grande.

“I’m just going to let it keep ringing,” he said. He then looked at Davidson, “Oh, do you know her?”

After that, Davidson offered Crenshaw the chance to mock him in return. Said Crenshaw: “This is Pete Davidson. He looks like if the meth from Breaking Bad is a person. He looks like a troll doll with a tapeworm. He looks like Martin Short in The Santa Clause 3.”

Crenshaw also joked that only Short was actually good on “SNL.”

The pair ended the bit with a plea to support veterans, with Crenshaw urging people to commemorate Veterans Day by telling people who have served “Never forget.”

“You are implying that as an American, you are with them. Connected together as grateful fellow Americans.” Crenshaw also took a moment to call Davidson’s father, a firefighter who died on 9/11, a hero as well. Then the two of them said “Never Forget” together.
