Sacha Baron Cohen Jokes With O. J. Simpson About Killing Women on ‘Who Is America’ Finale

The finale episode of “Who Is America” ended with Sacha Baron Cohen making jokes about the idea of killing his girlfriend with O. J. Simpson, and asking Simpson how he “got away with it.”

Baron Cohen met with Simpson while playing one of his characters, a rich Italian man named Gio. During their discussion, Gio introduced Simpson to his girlfriend, but after she left the room, Gio said that sometimes he had a hard time with her.

“She’s gorgeous but sometimes I want to kill her, you know,” Baron Cohen’s Gio said, laughing. “I want to send her on a private helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon — oopsy daisy!”

“Oopsy daisy,” Simpson replied, chuckling.

“Maybe I send her on a bungee jump — Oops, the cord!” Gio continued, leaning forward to slap Simpson a high-five.

“The cord’s extra long,” Simpson agreed, laughing.

Baron Cohen kept going with jokes about killing people, adding that if he did kill his girlfriend, Simpson would have to introduce him to Johnnie Cochran, Simpson’s famed lawyer. Cochran successfully defended Simpson in his 1995 trial, in which he was charged with murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman. Cochran died in 2005.

“I’d have to introduce you in the afterlife,” Simpson replied.

“What, you didn’t kill him too, did you?” Gio joked.

“Stop! Jesus Christ, man!” Simpson said, chuckling.

Gio finally got down to business, saying that he had a partner who wanted one-on-one time to talk with Simpson.

“He’s obsessed about what happened the night with the wife and he wants you to tell him,” Baron Cohen’s Gio explained. When Simpson asked him “What wife,” Gio said, “The one you shot.”

“Well, first of all, she wasn’t my wife,” Simpson corrected. “We had been divorced and separated for two years. Except that I didn’t do it.”

While Gio kept pushing about Simpson revealing what happened on the night of Brown-Simpson and Goldman’s murders, and specifically, how Simpson “got away with it.”

When Simpson insisted he didn’t get away with anything, Gio joked that he also “didn’t get away with anything” with his own wife.

“I didn’t get away with anything with my wife either,” Gio said, laughing. “She committed suicide! She got depressed and she put herself into a bag full of rocks and she managed to drag herself into the sea.”

“You weren’t charged, so good for you,” Simpson told him.
