A man suspected of being armed and acting erratically was arrested on Tuesday night, and a gun was later located at the AMC Metreon 16 in San Francisco after the movie theater was evacuated due to suspicious activity, according to the San Francisco Police Department, NBC Bay Area reported.
“#SFPD has cleared the building, 1 person in custody, handgun recovered, no injuries to anyone involved. Investigation active, avoid area #SF,” Officer Grace Gatpandan tweeted after the incident.
The man was yelling and behaving erratically just as the previews wrapped up before a showing of Brad Pitt WWII drama “Allied,” a witness told SF Gate, causing other members of the audience to run out screaming.

Another moviegoer named Jeff Wincek told the San Francisco Chronicle that though the theater was dark, he saw the glint of a gun barrel as the man waved the handgun.
The investigation is still active and police are asking the public to avoid the area at Fourth and Mission streets in the heart of the San Francisco shopping area.
