Los Angeles Chargers Sign Multi-Year Broadcasting Deals With KABC-TV, iHeartMedia Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed multi-year broadcast agreements with KABC-TV, iHeartMedia Los Angeles, KAZA-TV Azteca America 54 and KFWB 980 AM, the team announced on Wednesday.

Following in the footsteps of the former St. Louis Rams last year, the Chargers will become L.A.’s second NFL team when they kick off the upcoming football season playing at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The team will take their “Fight for LA” to the airwaves and collaborate extensively with each broadcast partner to develop content such as preseason games, exclusive shoulder programming, behind-the-scenes shows, news features, community events and promotions — totally nearly 400 hours of programming, according to a statement from the Chargers’ press office.

“We strive to provide Chargers fans with the best experience in every way possible,” A.G. Spanos, Chargers President of Business Operations, said in the statement. “Whether it’s on-field performance, in-venue experience, season ticket member service or, in this case, unparalleled television and radio access throughout the LA region, placing a premium on our fans and their relationship with us is of the utmost importance.

“These partnerships only serve to enhance this priority. We are proud and excited to welcome KABC-TV, iHeartMedia Los Angeles, KAZA-TV Azteca America 54 and KFWB 980 AM to the Chargers family.”

“As Southern California’s #1 source for news and information, we are proud to partner with the Los Angeles Chargers,” Cheryl Fair, President & General Manager, KABC-TV, continued. “We can’t wait for the NFL season to get here and bring exciting Chargers football to our ABC7 viewers. In addition, KABC and the Chargers look forward to building on our partnership to provide new opportunities to give back to our local communities.”

The Chargers have the number seven pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday. They open their 2017 regular season in Denver against the Broncos on Monday, Sept. 11.
