‘How to Get Away With Murder': Dear Shonda, This is Why We Have Trust Issues

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read on if  you haven’t watched Thursday’s episode of “HTGAWM”)

Shonda Rhimes has a habit of leaving her show’s audiences shook, hyperventilating and crying with mild-to-severe cases of anxiety and Thursday night’s mid-season finale of “How to Get Away With Murder” was no different.

This time, the source of our anxiety is that she killed off Wes (Alfred Enoch). You see, this wouldn’t have come as much of a surprise if Rhimes had kept her promise.

When the season first started, fans were told that every week we would get closer to knowing who was under the sheet because every episode would reveal that one character was safe. And on the episode titled “Call It Mother’s Intuition” which aired Nov. 3, we all went to sleep thinking we knew that Wes was safe and supposedly plotting against Annalise in some interrogation room.

But little did we know, Rhimes had other plans for Wes.

And now the #HTGAWM people literally cannot function.

How can you do this to us Shonda?! We trusted you!

It’s like she literally said “Oh hey, what the heck. They haven’t cried enough this season [because Connor and Oliver’s relationship and Laurel crying her heart out for Frank didn’t dry out our tear ducts enough], let’s kill off one of the main characters. You know, just to shake things up a little.”

But you know what, it’s our fault. It really is. We should know by now to never trust Rhimes.

She’s been messing with our emotions since “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2005 and hasn’t stopped since.

You would think fans would have learned by now. Other than killing off George O’Malley, Denny Duquette, McSteamy, Lexie Grey, Adele Webber — shall we continue, Shonda?! — she had the audacity to take Derek Shepherd away from us and THEN…remind us of that pain every few episodes.

And let us not even bring “Scandal” into this. Don’t think we forgot, Shonda (Ahem, Harrison Wright and James Novak).

And even after all of the times we have been betrayed and left for almost dead in fetal position on our floors, we still faithfully come running back every Thursday evening.

So…how long until we can do this again?
