Donald Trump Slams ‘Crooked Media’ After Meeting With TV News Executives

Just hours after his “unprecedented” meeting with TV news executives and anchors, Donald Trump was once again ripping into the media.

“Prior to the election it was well known that I have interests in properties all over the world. Only the crooked media makes this a big deal!” the president-elect tweeted.

The social media statement was seemingly in response to new scrutiny over Trump’s international properties and business dealings following his meetings with the Japanese prime minister and partners in India.

A review of Trump’s most recent financial disclosures show he has about 150 companies that have had dealings in at least 25 countries outside of the US, including Turkey, China, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan, according to CNN.

Earlier on Monday, Trump tore into top broadcast and cable news executives and on-air talent as representatives of the “dishonest” media, the New York Post reported.

He specifically named CNN president Jeff Zucker in the off-the-record meeting, according to the Post, which described the atmosphere as like a “firing squad” by the real estate mogul turned reality TV host turned politician.

Senior adviser Kellyanne Conway described the meeting, which she arranged in two days, as “unprecedented.”

Also on Monday night, Trump suggested via Twitter that Nigel Farage, the controversial leader of the United Kingdom Independence party and Brexit campaigner, should be Great Britain’s ambassador to the U.S.

“Many people would like to see represent Great Britain as their Ambassador to the United States. He would do a great job!” he said.

Farage has no diplomatic experience but is a Trump ally and met with him at Trump Tower last week.
