Colbert Mocks Trump’s $100,000 Humblebrag (Video)

Donald Trump announced this week that he donates his presidential salary to various government agencies, but Steven Colbert isn’t buying it, or rather, he isn’t buying the way the president announced it.

On Tuesday, Trump tweeted: “While the press doesn’t like writing about it, nor do I need them to, I donate my yearly Presidential salary of $400,000.00 to different agencies throughout the year, this to Homeland Security. If I didn’t do it there would be hell to pay from the FAKE NEWS MEDIA!” The tweet included a photo of a $100,000 check made out to the Department of Homeland Security.

“You can’t say you don’t care if anybody know about it and the same time, announce it to the world on Twitter,” Colbert said during his monologue on Tuesday’s “The Late Show.” “That’s like naming a building ‘The Anonymously Donated by the Great & Charitable Donald J. Trump Hospital.’”

As for the check Trump wrote to Homeland Security, Colbert joked “wow, ‘Department of Homeland Security.’ That has got to be the worst porn name ever. It’s usually $130,000.” The joke referred, of course, to the money Stormy Daniels says she received from Trump, via his former attorney Michael Cohen.
