‘Thousands’ of Members Have Signed Letters Firing Agents, WGA Says

“Thousands” of members of the Writers Guild of America have signed the form letters informing their agencies that they could no longer represent them, WGA West president David A. ‘Master Z: Ip Man Legacy’ Film Review: Michelle Yeoh and Dave Bautista Kick It in Gorgeous, Muddled Martial-Arts Tale

The cinematic odyssey of Ip Man — the real-life master of Wing Chun and, famously, instructor of Bruce Lee — continues with “Master Z: Ip Man Legacy.” But don’t expect Donnie Yen to show up in this installment and don’t expect much in the way of historical fealty, narrative plausibility or serious examinations about human dignity or the ethics of kung fu. Expect, instead, a spin-off about Ip Man’s rival from “Ip Man 3,” Cheung Tin Chi (Zhang Jin, “Pacific Rim: Uprising”). After his secret defeat at the hands of Ip Man, Cheung Tin Chi became a mercenary — so…

As Ireland starved, help came from an unlikely place. How the Choctaw people came to the aid of strangers on an island thousands of miles away is the subject of our latest “Shoot This Now” podcast, available on Apple or right here: 1847 was the darkest year of the Irish famine, sometimes also called the Great Hunger or the Potato Famine.
