Charles Aidikoff, Famed Hollywood Screening Room Operator, Dies at 101

Charles Aidikoff, the famed owner of two Hollywood screening rooms, has died. He was 101.

The Hollywood staple (pictured above with Paris Hilton) owned and operated the Charles Aidikoff Screening Room for more than 50 years, during which time it became a staple for movie industry insiders.

Aidikoff died at his home in his sleep of natural causes, his family told The Hollywood Reporter.

The first Charles Aidikoff Screening Room location opened in 1964 on at 9255 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, before moving to 150 South Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, in 1990.

Despite selling the screening room in 2010, Aidikoff continued to attend it every day until it finally closed in August 2015 following a court order.

Aidikoff was also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Aidikoff Screening Room was beloved by critics, journalists and other industry players thanks to its unique poster art, photos of Aidikoff with hundreds of celebrities and, of course, its free candy basket.

Aidikoff’s wife, Evelyn, died in September 2014.

He is survived by his sons, Phil and Greg, and grandchildren Jeffrey Aidikoff, Joshua Aidikoff and Zev Aidikoff.
